Exchange 2016 install or the install of Exchange cumulative updates may sometimes cause an error such as “An attempt was made to load an assembly from a network location which would have caused the assembly to be sandboxed in previous versions of the .NET Framework…”.  To resolve this do the following…

  • Launch PowerShell.
  • Navigate to the folder where the Exchange or CU/cumulative update install/setup files are located.
  • Run the following command to unblock all the setup files, exe files.

After running the command you should now be able to run the installation without the error.

Next Gracefully and properly exit a Remote Desktop Session (RDP)
